DIY Car Seat Sunshade

As a new mom I'm always trying to keep my little "S" happy, but driving in the car on a sunny afternoon sends my little one into hysterics. I needed something that would shade her from the sun and also keep her safe. Just using a light blanket to shade her always scared me. I was worried that it would fall on her face while we were driving. So I decided to maker her a safe and stylish sunshade, of course with the help and sewing skills of my mom, "L:"

We took a piece of red and white polk-a-dot fabric and cut it to cover  from the top of the car seat down to the foot of the car seat, approx 27" x 27." We then lined the fabric with a white cotton. Once the cover was sewn we needed to attach ties, so we used a red grosgrain ribbon. We measured 5" down from one end and spaced the ribbons 6" apart on center.  Once in the proper location "L" did a zigzag stitch across the middle of the ribbon to hold it in place (pictured below)

My little girl is now shaded from the sun and I don't have to worry about her safety while driving on a sunny afternoon.

My mom, referred to as Mama L, and I have been talking about starting a blog for quite some time now. We are always trying new recipes and making new crafts - always being told by friends and family that we need to sell our creations. Instead of selling them we've decided to share our crafty ideas, yummy recipes along with our funny adventures here on our blog. Please follow us and enjoy. We are always trying to find new places to explore, new recipes to cook for our families and most of all we're just having fun!
