Fun in Downtown Los Angeles

When in search of some much needed craft items my mom and I head to Downtown LA for great pieces at great prices! We are always looking for buckles, broaches, rhinestones, fabrics, ribbons and trims for our many projects. There is one street in particular that we head to - Maple Ave. We park in a public lot at the corner of Maple Ave. & 8th Street. Parking here is much easier for my mom than attempting to parallel park on the street. The last time she tried to parallel park on  we ended up sitting in the car laughing for quite some time before we were able to gather ourselves enough to walk down the street and wet ourselves.

We start our adventure by heading down Maple to our first stop, the Bead Factory. They have a HUGE selection of beads, jewelry supplies, rhinestones and more. They have amazing prices and a very clean and organized store! We always find something there to buy.

From there we continue down Maple and find lots of small shops selling ribbons, buttons and buckles.

We then arrive at Michael Levine's where they have so many amazing fabrics and sewing supplies. They also have a very wide selection of flowers, feathers and adornments - a little bit pricier but they have amazing things!

Across the street is Maple Crafts. We found the cutest rolls of tulle for a tutu project we were working on (I'll post that one later). We also found some really cute ribbons and flowers.

While we're down there we also head into the Flower Mart to check out all of the fresh flowers - my mom and I love nothing more than a bunch of fresh flowers!
Downtown LA is a different place, but a fun one to explore! It's quite the experience - food carts cooking bacon wrapped hot dogs and charred peppers and onions permeate the air. Vendors try to lure you into their stores...

If you ever have a free Saturday morning and are in need of crafty items or inspiration check out Downtown LA, you're sure to have an adventure to remember!

My mom, referred to as Mama L, and I have been talking about starting a blog for quite some time now. We are always trying new recipes and making new crafts - always being told by friends and family that we need to sell our creations. Instead of selling them we've decided to share our crafty ideas, yummy recipes along with our funny adventures here on our blog. Please follow us and enjoy. We are always trying to find new places to explore, new recipes to cook for our families and most of all we're just having fun!
