4th Down and 40 Yards to Go

2015 was a big year for us. We sold a house, bought a house, moved and tried to get settled into our new place as quick as possible. Why so quick? So we could have a party!

This year was S's 4th Birthday and J's 40th Birthday. Plus our friends and family hadn't been to our new place so it was a birthday and housewarming all wrapped into one! I could only manage one party this year with all that we had going on.

At the end of last year's party, literally while we were still in the parking lot packing up from the princess party, my mom had a brilliant idea for the next party. Since we are sports loving, football fanatics she threw out the idea of a Football party, 4th & 40, as in 4th Down and 40 Yards to Go. At the time I wasn't ready to even start thinking of the next party...but it was a perfect idea!

And here is how it turned out...

THE END ZONE
Full of sweets from cake and cupcakes to peanut butter & chocolate Rice Krispie treats, caramel apple covered marshmallows, chocolate covered Oreos, chocolate covered pretzels, suckers...and so much more!

THE END ZONE aka The Dessert Table

Cake by A Piece of Cake
J&S are from Hobby Lobby, they come plain and you can add glitter or use the template provided to add paper to the face of the letters. I added the stripped paper and glittered the outsides of them. It comes with the lights and the little bulbs. So fun.

The most amazing Peanut Butter & Chocolate Rice Krispie treat made by Nana.

I found the most amazing Caramel Apple melting chocolate and dipped marshmallows in it, topped with sprinkles and put them on wooden skewers. These are so simple and always a big hit at every party or BBQ,

Mason jars painted like footballs lined the Dessert Table. Full of yellow and white roses, white stock, million star babies breath, mums and green coffee berries, the were the perfect touch of color for our football party.

THE LOCKER ROOM
The Locker Room was loaded with treats for the kids! Football necklaces, stickers, mini foam fingers, small footballs and of course pom poms. Fun stuff for the kids to play with and enjoy! All of the kids items were ordered from Oriental Trading.

Swag for the kids.

THE CONCESSION STAND
Since we had quote a long guest list we decided to make lunch simple. Hot dogs, condiments, fruit salad and a green salad. We roasted the hot dogs in the oven the day before, let them cool and then put them in the buns and wrapped them individually in foil. Refrigerated them overnight and just before the party we popped them in the oven at a low temp for about 20 minutes. We weren't sure if this would work, but it was perfect. They were delicious and we did 150 hot dogs in no time. No hovering over a BBQ or having guests wait for more hot dogs to be cooked.  Yellow penalty flag napkins and black and white referee plates made for easy eating for our guests.

Individually wrapped hot dogs were super easy and done ahead and time.

Yellow penalty flag napkins.

All the condiments you could ever want for a hot dog, put in foil lined metal buckets, labeled with chalk pens and put on a small riser. The riser was a kids step stool painted in gold spray paint. Great for displays.

Between the Concession Stand and the Hydration Station stood a 8ft yellow goal post made from PVC pipe. Between the posts I hung tissue paper garland in the party colors, yellow pom pom stands and a wooden 04 & 40 banner from wooden pendants found at my local Hobby Lobby.

Tables were set with Kelly green linens, black chalkboard paper with a few plays drawn out, football vases filled with flower and topped with a few football balloons.

THE HYDRATION STATION
Beer, wine, Linebacker Lemonade and Tight End Tea were a few of the drink options. We also had juice, water and sodas.
